The work of Gina Winther will be featured February 15th through the end of April 2022.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a NW Wisconsin artist based in the Springbrook area. I carve, draw and paint on collected driftwood from Lake Superior, found wood or on lumber. The subjects are birds, coyotes, foxes or wolves and some pieces include a proverb or word that comes to mind, or image of a star or heart. Sometimes the animal’s skeleton is partially exposed. In my mind these are objects that represent a spiritual homage to the animal.

My goal is to make carvings that are beautiful, honor the animal spirit and be a unique Northwoods folk art object. I greatly enjoy combining draftsmanship and wood carving.
