Sherman & Ruth Weiss Library Exhibit
Art has been an important part of Pam’s life ever since she can remember. Growing up in Toledo, Ohio, Pam won a scholarship to the Saturday Children’s Art Program at the Toledo Museum of Art. She later helped teach classes there as part of her teacher training when she was a student at the University of Toledo. She graduated with a degree in Art Education and went on to teach art at every grade level. She most recently taught Kindergarten through 8th grade Art in Stillwater, Minnesota. Pam took time off to
raise four great kids and enjoyed introducing them to the joys of art – something she now looks forward to doing with her three young grandchildren.
Pam is an oil painter but has been experimenting with small watercolor, charcoal, and ink studies, often as a warm-up for larger paintings in oil. Pam is drawn to the natural beauty of her surroundings, especially Lake Superior’s North Shore, the neighborhoods of her hometown of Stillwater, and now the area near her cabin in Stone Lake. She is always on the lookout for cozy cabins and places people would love to explore. Her paintings capture the light and shadow of the everchanging landscape, and she is always seeking new ways to capture the essence of special places without being overly fussy (a big challenge, she admits).
Pam is a longstanding member of the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery and shows her work at JNS Gallery in
Lutsen, Minnesota. In 2019 one of her paintings was accepted into the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Competition, which she considers a great accomplishment. Pam looks forward to getting more involved in the local art community and is a board member of CHARAC where she works with grants and scholarships for young artists in the Hayward area.
Pam and her husband Pete reside in Stillwater but spend as much time as they can at their recently completed cabin. She is looking forward to working in her new studio space in their lower level. Pam has enjoyed doing commissions of cabins and homes.
