Sherman & Ruth Weiss Library Exhibit
ChimakwaNibawii Stone, December - February 28, 2025
ChimakwaNibawii Stone, an enrolled member of the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe, is an artist whose work captures the vibrant spirit and rich narratives of Indigenous culture. Working out of Lac Courte Oreilles, Wisconsin, their art is deeply influenced by ancestral stories, spiritual connection, and the interplay between light and shadow. Each piece serves as a bridge between the past and present, weaving together tradition, personal history, and the mysteries of lore.
Known for the use of bold colors and evocative themes, ChimakwaNibawii’s work explores identity, creation, and spiritual power, often diving into darker, thought-provoking realms. From vivid depictions of legendary creatures to soulful representations of ceremonial moments, their art invites viewers into a world both haunting and beautiful.
